This monster of a geode is a breathtaking mixture of red, orange, and yellow zhanguo agate and clear quartz. The entire nodule is almost solid clear quartz with tourmaline inclusions. This geode is roughly the size of a softball.
Zhanguo Agate is a rare variety of agate from China. It comes from 3 localities but Hebei, China is the most common. Zhanguo agates are named after the Zhanguo, or Warring States, period in Chinese history due to the fact that it's vibrant red and yellow colors are similar in shade to burial chamber decorations of that time period.
Zhanguo Agates are known for the bright red, yellow, and orange bands but also have rare pink, purple, green, and blue color formations. Some zhanguo agates have crystal geodes inside and amethyst is not uncommon to find in the geodes.
Zhanguo agates are said to be good stones for grounding, stability, protection, and courage.
